Amanda Tapping to Appear in Stargate: SG-1 Season Nine
Actress Amanda Tapping, who plays Samantha Carter in Stargate SG-1 will be appearing in the ninth season of the show, but will appear in only 15 of the 20 episodes. Tapping announced that she plans to return to work in May following the birth of her child in mid March. This will lead to her missing the first five episodes of the next season.
Her place in the show will be filled by Farscape actress Claudia Black who will reprise her character from the upcoming 8th season episode “Prometheus Unbound” in some sort of 5 episode story arc.
At this point its not known if Black will appear later in the season or not.

Although I am excited and glad to know Amanda is coming back to Stargate, it will be sad
to see Claudia leave. She has brought a lot of lighthearted fun to the show with her
character. It has been a pleasure watching the two lead characters from Farscape working
on Stargate and having a lot of fun doing it. Too bad we can’t run into her on other planets
as our guys explore. In her quirky way, I think she could be a wonderful allie against the
Ori.

I had always seen Amanda Tapping working with Jack as a great combination. I’m not sure if she fits nicely with the Atlantis crew. Although Atlantis needs a good lookin smart character.
