Amazing Stories To Go On Hiatus
Paizo Publishing, publisher of a number of genre related magazines such as Dragon, Dungeon, Undefeated and Amazing Stories has announced that it is suspending publication of both Amazing Stories and Undefeated temporarily.
The publisher referred to sales as respectable and increasing circulation but said that they were looking to revamp and reposition the magazine. The most recent issue of Amazing Stories #608 went on sale January 4th 2005. Undefeated is scheduled for a January 18th publication. This will be the last issues to be printed for the moment.
Paizo has indicated that since they are looking to resume publication of both magazines, subscriptions are not being canceled or transfered to other titles. However anyone wishing to cancel their subscription can contact Paizo Publishing at customer.service@paizo.com.
Stories in their slush pile are being logged and returned. When they are able to accept submissions again, the firm said it will notify the folks in the log.

Bummer… another magazine bites the dust. Yeah, I know, they’ve been on life support in the past and somehow kept on. I must also confess that I didn’t even realize they were still being published — I just see the usual Analog, S&SF, and Asimov’s in the magazine shop I patronize (and this place carries a huge assortment of magazines, even Locus and Aboriginal). I had thought the publisher had folded both Amazing and Fantastic years ago. Remember Galaxy? Remember Worlds of If? (Yeah, I’m older than dirt, reading Analog back when it was still called Astounding.)
