Goblet of Fire Snippets

Over at the Harry Potter Automatic News Aggregator there are some snippets of news about the latest film in the series Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. The film is being described as both funnier and darker than previous films. An unusual combination, but certainly not impossible. Its generally agreed after all that each of the Potter books is progressively darker than the previous ones. Goblet of Fire is…

Terry Brooks Interview

Over at SciFi Crowsnest they have an interview with Terry Brooks about Tanequil, his most recent book and the second in the High Druid of Shannara trilogy.

Its an interesting enough read, though not terribly deep. I’m currently reading Jarka Ruus, which is the first book in this trilogy and I’m rather dissapointed so far. I’ll hold off until I’ve finished the book at least, and maybe till I’ve read Tanequil…

I Wanna Be A Librarian

Sci-Fi Ranter Girl brings to my attention a TNT tv-movie The Librarian. It should show some time in December and has a pretty decent cast for a TV movie. Including Noah Wyle, Kyle MacLachlan, Jane Curtin and Bob Newhart. The movie is produced by Electric Entertainment which was formed by Dean Devlin (Independence Day).

According to the blurb:

THE LIBRARIAN tells the story of a repository for humanity’s greatest secrets, all hidden…

Global Frequency Homeless

More late news (Hey, I work). Seems that Aint It Cool News has a report that the WB has passed on the pilot of Global Frequency.

For those who aren’t familiar Global Frequency was a Warren Ellis comic series that was unusually well suited to tv adaptation. The core concept was of an organization of 1,001 operatives who would deal with a miriad of crises as they occurred all around the…

Goblet of Fire Set Pics

I’m a little slow posting this one, but oh well. The Harry Potter News Aggregator has some set pics for the latest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire.

These are set pics taken from a distance so don’t expect too much, but if you’re a Harry Potter fan (and aren’t we all) then you should find it interesting. It looks like all the pictures relate to the…

New Battlestar Pics

For those of us who haven’t had a chance to see it (or downloaded it from Bittorrent) About.com has updated its Battlestar Galactica picture gallery to include pictures from Season 1.

The Battlestar Galactica Picture Gallery has over 200 images, some of which might possibly be considered spoilers depending on just how particular you are about these things.

Which to Pick?

There are three games that have come out for the PS2 this month that I’m really interested in. Problem is that I have kids on the way. Have I mentioned that enough recently? So I’m supposed to be saving money. Not to mention I’m getting kind of busy.

Smackdown vs. Raw is the latest in the series of WWE wrestling games for the PS2. I’ve bought the previous three games in…

Reasons To Have Sons

So I’m having twins, two boys as it turns out. And its a lot of work (this is before they actualy arrive so you know it’s going to get worse). But every now and then I see things that remind me why having son’s is just going to be cool. For example:

Its a 1:6 scale remote control Cadillac Escalade. The box is 35.8″ x 15.9″ x 15.1″ and weighs 13.65…

Arrested Development Returns

Arrested Development, returns for its second season tonight! This is probaby the cleverest comedy on tv, certainly on network tv and if you haven’t watched before you really want to start watching now. Those of you with Tivo just follow this link to set up your recording.

With tv networks playing safe in their programming I really hope this season gets more viewers than the last.

The Village

Sci-Fi Wire is reporting that The Village by M. Night Shyamalan has dropped to second place and suffered a considerable drop in its box-office takings. They also note that its a good $30 million below where Sings was at this point two years ago.

While its clear that the film is not doing as well as Shyamalan’s previous film, the negativity in the reporting is a bit unbalanced. The Manchurian Candidate for example has…
