Set The Fiction Free

So I’m thinking.. no really I can do that, its difficult but if I concentrate and squint just so…

I’m back on the topic of ebooks again or electronic publishing in general. I think its fair to say that ebook publication is generally seen as inferior to “real” paper publishing. Most authors focus their efforts heavily on getting a real book out on the shelves.

Obvious reasons for doing this include the…

Runes Of The Earth First Chapter Online

As a big fan of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, I was very intrigued to hear that Stephen Donaldson was planning a final chronicle. Well apparently he’s well past simply planning it now.

The Runes Of The Earth is the first of what will apparently be four books collectively titled The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. The first chapter is available at Stephen. R. Donaldson’s official website in Adobe Acrobat format.

Hell In A Cell

Peter David’s latest blog entry An Interesting Thought is sure to generate a lot of comments. Unfortunately the vast majority of them are exactly what you’d expect from any online political debate. Which is to say, boring, predictable and inflamatory all at the same time. That applies equally to both sides of the debate.

All of which misses the more interesting punchline of PAD’s post.

Bush and Saddam sharing a cell…

Living The Life Of

I think almost anyone who read comics during the late 90s reacts with a shudder when you say “Clone Saga”. And the truth is that it was a real low point not just for Spider-man, but also for Marvel Comics in general.

That said there were some interesting ideas mixed in with that whole mess.
Life of Reilly has to be about the most thorough examination of the storyline that I’ve ever heard…

Harry Potter VI Title

Author J.K Rowling has revealed on her official web site that the title of the sixth Harry Potter book will be “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince”.

Rowling went on to say, “Certain crucial pieces of information in book six were originally planned for Chamber of Secrets, but very early on (first draft of Chamber) I realized that this information’s proper home was book six. I have said before now…

Raw 6/29/04

Once again RAW shows that its several leagues ahead of Smackdown in entertainment value. While there are elements of the show which are utterly missable (Lit/Kane/pregnancy… anyone?), the majority of the show is well worth watching.

Both shows have talented rosters. The fundamental difference is that the wrestlers on the RAW brand are involved in storylines which build interest. Chris Jericho has transitioned from his successful feud with Christian into a…

The Trade Paperback List

Its funny how different interests intersect. I was browsing the Tivo Community Forum when I happened on a thread about Astonishing X-Men.

One of the posters in that thread mentioned that he runs a website which lists all the trade paperbacks available for various series. Intrigued, I took a look at The Trade Paperback List. While not exactly the most stunning site to look at, it turns out it is a…

Ooops!

Over at Lying In The Gutters Rich Johnston brings to my attention the sudden absence of Millarworld from the web.

It turns out that Mark Millar forgot to renew the domain name. Don’t laugh too loud guys, I’ve come very close to doing that myself.
