Well it’s official now apparently. Despite Episode III being the “conclusion” of the Star Wars story, we can expect not one, but two new Star Wars TV series in 2007.
As previously reported there will be a new animated Star Wars series which will be set during the clone wars. Unlike the Clone Wars animated Star Wars series, this new one will be entirely computer animated. Pre-production is well under way…

The SciFi Channel has announced that the third season of its hit original science fiction series Battlestar Galactica will not begin airing until October 2006. Traditionally the SciFi Channel has split its seasons, airing the first half in the Summer and the second half around January (to avoid competing directly with the networks).
An October start for Battlestar Galactica will allow it to run all 20 episodes without any break however.…

According to an Ain’t It Cool News report, James Cameron’s Project 880 is in fact a retooled version of his previous science fiction project Avatar. Cameron has been working on a couple of projects in parallel, one being Project 880 (aka Avatar) and the other being an adaptation of Battle Angel. It’s still unknown which will actually be filmed first.

Dreamwatch magazine is reporting rumors that Paramount may have dropped the proposed new Star Trek movie. A few months ago reports started to circulate about Star Trek XI, which would be based on a script by Erik Jendresen. Now it seems that proposal has been dumped, at least according to Doug Mirabello, a personal assistant to Trek producer Rick Berman.

When the USA Network’s science fiction series The 4400 starts its third season later this year, we can expect a new direction according to co-creator Ira Steven Behr. Behr told Sci Fi Wire that there would be a heavier focus on the show’s mythology and main characters this season, in addition to a new member of the regular cast, Megalyn Echikunwoke.

Hugo and Nebula award winning SF writer Octavia Butler died on February 25th 2006 at her home in Seattle according to a report by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Butler, who was 58 succumbed to injuries after she recently fell and hit her head on a walkway.
