The Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 DVD boxed from Universal Studios Home Entertainment set will hit store shelves on 19th September 2006. Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 features (logically enough) the second half of the second season of Battlestar Galactica.

All 11 episodes from Galactica Season 2.5 are presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1) with a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound audio track. The running time for the DVD set is 8 hours and 41 minutes because the 11 episodes include an extended version of Pegasus, the mid-season cliffhanger episode from Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica.

Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5 picks up the story of the last survivors of the colonies as they flee the Cylons in search of the fabled Earth. Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell return as Commander William "Husker" Adama, and President Laura Roslin who have formed an unlikely alliance that holds the rag-tag fleet together. The cast for the show also includes Jamie Bamber, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park.

I'm a huge fan of this show and have the previous seasons on DVD so I've been wondering when this one was going to come out. The timing makes perfect sense of course as they're releasing it a few weeks before Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica begins!

Priced at $49.98, Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5 will be available on September 19th.
