Battlestar Galactica Season One DVD Release

The first season of Battlestar Galactica will be released on DVD on September 20th 2005. The five disc boxed set features all 13 episodes from season one of the Hugo Award winning Battlestar Galactica series plus the 4 hour mini-series that launched the show. Thats approximately 12 hours worth of content.

With the 12 colonies of man virtually destroyed in the climax of a hundred-year war with the Cylon Empire, President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) gather up the few humans left and embark on a journey to find the mythical planet Earth, not realizing that the Cylon robot is no longer a recognizable enemy. Battlestar Galactica is a complete re-imagining of the 1970s series – upping the ante on the action, adventure, and drama that made the original so popular. Now, experience all 13 thrilling episodes of Season 1 and the four hour TV miniseries that started it all in this 5 disc DVD set loaded with explosive bonus features and presented in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound.

If that isn’t enough for your money then perhaps the bonus features will tempt you. In total there are some 9 hours worth of bonus content in the Battlestar Galactica - Season One boxed set. Those include: deleted scenes from the show; a commentary on the pilot episode by director Michael Rymer and producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore; a photo presentation of conceptual sketches from the series; eight behind-the-scenes featurettes; and Battlestar Galactica: The Lowdown. The boxed set also comes with three collectible trading cards and has an SRP of $59.98.
