Battlestar Galactica Wins Peabody
The SciFi Channel’s re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica has garnered yet more critical acclaim having received a Peabody Award. The Peabody Awards recognize distinguished achievement in an electronic media and this is the first Peabody that the SciFi Channel has won.
The 65th Annual Peabody Awards were announced on 5th April 2006 by Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of Georgia and represent the best in electronic media for 2005.
Winning such a highly regarded award is clearly a huge pat on the back both for the Battlestar Galactica production team and for the SciFi Channel itself.
Ratings for the second season of Battlestar Galactica have dropped somewhat from the peak of the first season and there has been some criticism of episodes in the second half of season 2, but the show remains one of the best examples of science fiction currently on television.
