Billie Piper To Leave Doctor Who
Actress Billie Piper who plays Rose in the new series of Doctor Who for the BBC is now set to leave the show during the second season. Piper will appear in at least a few episodes of the second season, at least enough to hand over to a new companion for the Doctor.
Christopher Eccleston who plays the Doctor in the new series had already announced that he would be leaving at the end of the first season and there has been speculation that the special Christmas episode will see him regenerate into the new actor.
It seems that Billie Piper had originally intended to stay on longer in the role, but has received a number of offers both in the UK and in the US that she doesn’t want to turn down. So far the actor or character that will replace Rose in the second season of Doctor Who has not been announced.
