Brannon Braga Talks About Threshold
Brannon Braga who was executive producer of the late (and unlamented in my eyes) Star Trek: Enterprise tv series is talking about his new show Threshold. Threshold, which features Brent Spiner (who played Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation) has some unintentional (according to Braga) parallels with the events of 9/11, being about a group of government officials trying to stave off a possible attack from outer space, while attempting to determine whether that attack has already begun or not.
In the preview for Threshold the text announces “We’ve been waiting for a sign of alien life… the wait is over… you’ll wish we were alone.”
Brent Spiner will paly Nigel Fenway, a former 60s radical who is a microbiologist and discovers that a human affected by aliens has had his blood cells altered and more. He can now survive being shot repeatedly.
You can easily see themes of being under attack from an unknown foe for reasons that we don’t understand in the set up for this series. Then again, you may just see yet another rehash of The Invaders.
Threshold will air on CBS on Friday nights this fall. In addition to Gugino and Spiner, it stars Charles S. Dutton, Brian Van Holt and Robert Patrick Benedict.
