Captain America is one of Marvel Comics oldest comics characters, actually pre-dating Marvel Comics themselves. While the good Captain has never quite gained the following that Superman has, but Captain America represents for the Marvel Universe much the same things that Superman represents in the DC Universe.
In this eight part series of articles I plan going to look at all aspects of Captain America both in comic books and other media like tv, movies and video games. Starting with a look at the origina of Captain America, both in the comics and behind the scenes and going all the way to recent re-inventions of the character, I’m going to try to sum up 60 years of history in a 8 posts.
As a capper to the whole series I plan to also post short biographies for Captain America’s creators Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.
