Daniel Craig Cast As James Bond
Director Martin Campbell has cast the role of James bond for his upcoming film Casino Royale which will being production in January 2006. 007 will be played in the movie by actor Daniel Craig. Craig won the role after an 18 month search for a replacement to current James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan.
Daniel Craig is 37 and was born in the UK. He is probably not very well known in the US but has been working actively for the last decade. His big break in the UK was the gritty tv series Our Friends In The North. He played Alex West in the Tomb Raider movie and was highly regarded for his role in the crim thriller Layer Cake. Craig will be the sixth actor to play James Bond in the movies.
Casino Royale is based on one of Ian Flemming’s original James Bond novels. It was previously filmed in 1967, but that was a comedy outing. Little is known about the new Bond film beyond the title, as yet no other casting has been announced.
