David Goyer on The Flash Movie

In an interview with The New York Daily News, writer David S. Goyer (responsible for the highly regarded screenplay of Batman Begins) talked about his next movie, The Flash, which he will be both writing and directing.

Of particular interest is the fact that Goyer confirms more than one Flash will appear in the film. For those who aren’t up on DC Comics history, there have been several different Flashes over the years. Jay Garrick was the original Flash, Barry Allen succeeded him and he in turn was replaced by Wally West. According to Goyer both Wally West and Barry Allen will be in The Flash movie. That should be a popular move as many fans never fully took to Wally West.

Goyer also indicated that the film will dip into the Speed Force, something that was heavily explored during Mark Waid’s popular run on The Flash comic book. Goyer also said that he’s talking to someone at M.I.T and they plan to play with relativity, Doppler effects and other fun stuff. This won’t just be a guy running fast.

All of which sounds very interesting. The Flash is one of DC’s big five characters, but his presences in other media has been pretty low key. Hopefully this film could change that.
