Doctor Who Christmas Special and Season Two News

Its about time I had some more Doctor Who news to report and here it is. The big news is that BBC has scheduled the Doctor Who Christmas Special for Christmas day itself. In the UK this is the biggest television day of the entire year and the ratings battle is bitterly fought.
The Christmas Invasion will air on Christmas Day on BBC 1 between two hour long episodes of EastEnders (one of the UK's most popular drama series). In that timeslot it will be going up against broadcasts of Coronation Street (another of the UK's most popular dramas). That the BBC would use Doctor Who to anchor is Christmas Day schedule says alot about who the new series is seen and how much confidence they have in it.
I also have a couple of snippets about Season Two of Doctor Who. Apparently at some point during the series Mickey will overcome his fear of the TARDIS and will actually travel in it. Additionally it seems that we will see Pete Tyler (Rose's Dad) again. As you may recal Pete is dead so it's not entirely clear how this will work. However it has been rumored that the Cyberman story will be set on some sort of alternate Earth so that might explain it.

Pete Tyer will be back in an episode because the adventure takes place in an alternte timeline, one in which he did not die. That’s been so far the scopp, such as it is, from Outpost Gallifrey and whomever is talking at the BBC.
