After a 9 year break, Doctor Who returned to television in the form of Christopher Eccleston. In the hands of Russell T. Davis. While this new series of Doctor Who was a continuation from the previous 26 year run (and for that matter the US TV Movie) it was also produced in a fashion that didn’t require any previous Doctor Who knowledge.
For that reason this is not Doctor Who Series 27, but Doctor Who (2005) Series 1. Running for 13 45 minute episodes stand alone episodes, this series revitalized Doctor Who and made it more popular than it had been since the Tom Baker era.
Over this series of posts I’m going to give details for each of the thirteen episodes in the series with some cast details and a plot overview. Readers are encouraged to offer additional details via comments.

The Ninth Doctor:
Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor is an interesting amalgam of what we’ve seen before with a distinctly modern edge to him. In turns he is childish, playful and temperamental. He’s also sometimes very alien. What sets him apart from the previous incarnations of the Doctor is his darker elements though.
This Doctor has experienced tragedy on a scale it’s hard to understand. In some respects he’s a battle weary soldier. That’s a wonderful combination which makes the character very interesting to watch.
