Donner Developing Metal Men
Laren Shuler-Donner, producer of the X-Men movie is currently developing a movie for Warner Bros Pictures based on DC Comics Metal Men. The original Metal Men comics were written by Robert Kanigher and drawn by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito back in the 60s.
The Metal Men were created by Dr Will Magnus who gave them “responsometers” and an ability to reduce their compostion into blobs of molten metals so they could shift shapes aat will into inanimate objects of any size. The Metal Men consist of Tin, Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury and Platinum.
Donner describes the Metal Men movies as more like Men in Black than the X-Men. The empahsis will be on CGI and fun rather than the more serious tone that the X-Men movies strive for.

I read the original Metal Men comics and enjoyed them very much. Platinum was one sexy robot!
But … when a director starts talking about “emphasis on fun,” it’s usually a bad sign that the movie will suck big time.
