Fans March To Protest Star Trek: Enterprise Cancelation

In another impressive show of loyalty and a stubborn attempt to defy overwhelming odds at this point, fans of UPN’s Star Trek: Enterprise took to the streets in LA, New York and other cities urging Paramount to give the show a fifth season. Somewhere around 300 people marched at the entrance of Paramount Studios in Hollywood.

Realistically, it isn’t going to happen. There’s been a general feeling that the franchise went off the rails at some point (exactly when depends on who you ask) and that the general public is becoming increasingly tired of Trek.

Paramount and UPN’s decision to “rest” Trek isn’t simply about low ratings, and I can’t credit the more ridiculous notion that its some attempt to “kill” Trek. You don’t kill your biggest property just to upset a few fans.

In all honesty having been stunning unimpressed by pretty much everything Star Trek since Deep Space Nine, I think it could only be a good thing to take a break. Wait a couple of years and let someone dream up some genuinely fresh ideas.
