Fantasic Four Grabs $56 At US Box Office
Despite largely negative reviews and a series of trailers that have been met with derision online, Fantastic Four managed to pull in a respectable $56 million during its first three days, making it number one at the box office for the July 8th weekend.
This is above the projections for the film where were for less than $40 million. And marked the end of a recent box office trend with revenues below last years for the 19 weeks in a row.
Whether the box office takings are enough to encourage the studio to green light a sequel to Fantastic Four isn’t clear yet but apparently the director has envisaged several sequels to the movie including one which would feature the Silver Surfer and Galactus.
I’ve got to say that a Fantastic Four movie with the Silver Surfer and Galactus in it is something I’d like to see.

Enough already! Fantastic 4, War of the Worlds, Batman, Bewitched, Herbie, Star Wars. Hollywood complains about dwindling ticket sales. Been there, done that. Remakes of movies and re-treads of old television shows only lead to general disappointment and increased disinterest. MommyCool.com wants to know where the good new release family movies are? Any hints?

It’s maybe a small point, but let’s see an end to
film titles like, for example, X-Men 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, 5,6,7,8,
ad infinitum
Spiderman and X-Men have shown it pays to stick closely to Stan Lee’s decisions
in the writing of his early comic book stories, so, like,
get a good Marvel comic book website and sit imagining the titles as film titles
Doesn’t “Wolverine:Soultaker” sound more exciting than “X-Men3″, or,
“Daredevil:King Of Hell’s Kitchen” sort of more grab the public’s attention?
