Filming Begins On Highlander: The Source

Filming has now begun on the new Highlander movie, Highlander: The Source. The movie is being directed by Brett Leonard and stars Adrian Paul (Highlander the TV Series) as Immortal Duncan MacLeod. Highlander - The Source tells about the Immortal’s quest to locate the Source of Immortality.

Adrian Paul will be joined by Peter Wingfield and Jim Byrnes, both of whom also appeared in the Highlander TV series. Other actors in The Source include Thom Fell, Christian Solimeno, Stephen Rahman-Hughes and Thekla Reuten.

The script for Highlander - The Source was written by David Abramowitz and Stephen Kelvin Watkins. Brett Leonard directed Virtuousity and most recently Man-Thing (based on the Marvel Comics character). Leonard is quoted as saying:

“This is a tremendous opportunity for a storyteller in this genre to take part in twenty years of mythology. Everything I have done before has led me to this kind of mythical fantasy.”

I remain to be convinced that we really need another Highlander movie. But I did enjoy the TV series so if this pulls more from that than fromt he previous poor sequels, it may be worth watching.
