First Shots Fired In The Summer Comics War
The big summer events of the two main comic companies are having two completely different publicity experiences.
First the good:
D.C are carrying on the positive fan buzz and high sales of COUNTDOWN TO INFINITE CRISIS by selling out the print runs of the first two tie-in comics. Both OMAC #1 and VILLAINS UNITED #1 are going into second printings.
Secondly the bad:
Mike Mayhews promotional cover to The Pulse: House of M is a pastiche of a portrait portraying Spain’s King Juan Carlos and the royal family are not best pleased. They have instructed their lawyers to instruct Marvel to remove the image before the comic’s publication.
I have been a science fiction, comic book and animation fan for a very long time. I honestly believe that comics are an extremely vital and exciting art form whose true worth is only now beginning to be recognised in the mainstream media and this appreciation can only continue to grow in the future. I regularly write science fiction short stories and send them off to the magazines. So far their response has not exactly allowed me to give up my day job but I plan to keep plugging away at it..
