Full Season of Animated Fantastic Four For Cartoon Network

It looks like we’re going to get lots of animated Fantastic Four to enjoy as the Cartoon Network has ordered a full 26 episode season of the new animated show from Marvel. Fantastic Four is set to debut on the Cartoon Network in fall 2006 according to the Hollywood reporter.

The animated Fantastic Four will feature the adventures of Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing as well as the villainous Dr. Doom. In other words it will feature the classic team, not any weird variation.

The animated Fantastic Four is produced by Marvel and Moonscoop (the animation company beyond Code Lyoko which also runs on the Cartoon Network). Avi Arad of Marvel will serve as executive producer for the series while Eric Rollman and Craig Kyle will oversee the production for Marvel.

So far Marvel really hasn’t had an animated series that comes close to what DC has offered (be it Batman, Superman or The Justice League). Their most recent versions of Spider-man and the X-Men showed improvements over previous versions but still were very much kids cartoons.

Hopefully the fact that this new series will run on the Cartoon Network, which has a great track record for animated superheroes means that the Fantastic Four will finally have a cartoon that deserves the name.
