Future Plans For The Chronicles of Narnia
It seems that the producers of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe are banking on the movie’s success. British tabloid, The Daily Mail, is reporting that they are already looking to line up Prince Caspian as the second movie in The Chronicles of Narnia.
If the story is true then it seems that the actors who play the four children in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe have all be lined up for the sequel and the script is in the final stages of development. All of this of course depends on the success of the first film.
Over at Business Week they have a very interesting article on the long term plans by Disney and Walden to turn The Chronicles of Narnia into a franchise. There is apparently a 15 year plan for marketing the movies, DVDs and all associated merchandise. It’s a risky proposition though as apparently the budget for the first film is some $200 million including the marketing budget.
