Take Me Out To The Comics Museum
Comic book entrepreneur Steve Geppi is a stage further in realizing his lifelong dream of establishing a museum for comic books and pop culture.
Yesterday the Maryland Stadium Authority voted to lease space in Camden Station baseball park to the Baltimore native for a period of twenty years.
Stadium authority Chairman Carl A.J. Wright thinks Geppi’s museum would be an ideal complement to the existing Sports Legends facility at the ballpark. “There’s going to be a lot of synergy between the two sites, and it will only be helpful to Camden Yards.” he said.
If these plans come to fruition the museum will open in about a year with a large majority of the works on show coming from Geppi’s personal collection of comics, animation art, toys and film posters.
Geppi is the owner of the Diamond Comics who are the world’s biggest distributor of that product and its related items. He is also a minority shareholder in the cities baseball team the Orioles
I have been a science fiction, comic book and animation fan for a very long time. I honestly believe that comics are an extremely vital and exciting art form whose true worth is only now beginning to be recognised in the mainstream media and this appreciation can only continue to grow in the future. I regularly write science fiction short stories and send them off to the magazines. So far their response has not exactly allowed me to give up my day job but I plan to keep plugging away at it..
