Providing the Information That Sci-Fi Fans Need

Author Michael Grant, the co-creator and co-author of Animorphs and the Everworld series has a new young adult science fiction series about to debut. Gone is the first book in a six novel series that takes the Lord of the Flies and gives it a genre twist.

In a flash, your life can change forever…

Something bizarre has happened in the town of San Perdido. In a flash, everyone over the age of fourteen has disappeared. Poof. Gone. A strange impenetrable force field encircles the town, and as the stranded kids struggle to survive on their own, they discover that some of them are developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. And unfortunately, not all the kids with these new-found powers are good…

The core conceit of Gone is not a new one in Science Fiction circles, but as I’ve said before, it’s all in the execution. Gone has garnered some positive reviews already and it’s tweaked my curiosity. There’s been a lot of fussing in blogs lately about Young Adult Science Fiction. My position is very simple. Books are either good or bad. If you’re worrying about the label you’re missing the point.

Look for Gone in the bookstores from June 24th 2008.
