Happy Birthday J.R.R. Tolkien
Today (January 3, 2005) is J.R.R Tolkien’s 113th birthday. Or at least would be if he were still alive. Well you know what I mean anyway. Tolkien was born January 3, 1892, in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and died on September 2,1973, at the age of 81.
2005 is the 50th anniversary of the publication of the Lord of the Rings. While the Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers were published in 1954, The Return of the King was not published until October 1955.
