Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Review
With Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince now available for everyone to purchase (if you can still find a copy on the shelves that is), we’re going to see a lot of reviews I’m sure, but this is the first review that I’ve become aware of.
The review is in the New York Times and its one of those annoying sites where you have to register (for free) in order to read it. Its worth registering (or using BugMeNot) to get in though as the review makes interesting reading.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is described as the darkest book yet in the series (which is pretty much the description used for every book since Prisoner of Azkaban I think). More than ever, even than the last book, Voldemort and his activities move to the for of the story. The review does point out that the book gets a little heavy on the exposition from time to time, as a result of pulling plot strands from 5 previous books, but other than that is very positive.
I haven’t picked up a copy of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince yet, but reading the review has reminded me how much I enjoyed reading the previous books, so I can see myself grabbing a copy real soon now.
