How Many Narnia Movies Should They Make?
I was just reading that Disney are only planning to make three movies in the Chronicles of Narnia. As well as the previously released The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe and the upcoming Prince Caspian movies, there are early plans to produce The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Currently though there are no plans to produce movie versions of the later novels in the Narnia series.

On one hand I can understand why they would make a decision like this. Some of the books in the Narnia sequence would be very challenging to film. The Last Battle in particular with its heavy religious imagery and theme would be difficult.
Also the series fragments after the first three books, with new characters coming in and a couple of the books largely unrelated to the main thrust of the series. It would be much harder to market these movies without the familiar actors in their usual roles.
But it seems as though the later stories always lose out when Narnia is adapted. When the BBC did their tv adaption many years ago, they only included four of the books. Just once I’d like to see someone tackle the other Narnia stories.
What do you think, how many Narnia movies should they make?

I’m pretty sure the whole “3 movies only” thing was a rumor.
Narnia Web has an article titled “List of Directors for the Silver Chair” so it looks pretty certain that they’re gonna go beyond.

When I first heard Disney were going to make all 7 movies I was delighted now they are doing like everybody else before them and dropping the last ones.
I was really looking forward to Magicians Nephew which I thought would be a good way to ending the strory because it explains it all .. where did Narnia, talking beasts, the witch, the wardrobe itself all come from it really did round up the story better than Last Battle which I do agree would be very difficult to adapt to a movie not only because of the religious part of it but because the whole story is with the animals and I think the younger children at least want some of the children to be in it and as its Disney whose movies are generaly aimed towards younger audiences they may not like the ending which is of course the destruction of Narnia.
I think that at least 5 out of 7 could be made into movies and would be enjoyable Disney are the masters time for them to put some of those skills to work give us what we all want Dawn Treader isnt the logical conclusion to the end of these movies.

I think make as many as they can. I love the first two. Even if they don’t have to go strictly by the books. They could take it to a different level of imagination.
