Invasion Still Suffering From Hurricane Katrina Fallout

I’ve previously mentioned that ABC pulled its advertising for the new series Invasion due to the fact that the first episode begins with a hurricane. Unfortunately it seems Invasion’s problems don’t end there. It’s now being reported that advertisers are nervous about including their spots in the broadcast of the show.

In an interview with MediaPosts online MediaDailyNews one media agency executive is quoted as saying:

“It shows how people are suffering. People could consider ABC heartless for running it”

Invasion is still due to debut on September 21st and ABC has tried to emphasize that it’s not a show about a hurricane. Invasion is actually about an alien invasion and the hurricane featured in the first episode may have been triggered by those aliens.

At this point ABC has a few options. They can just go ahead and hope for the best. The could postpone the debut for a few weeks or they could try running the first episode ad free, which can be a big selling point itself.
