Jim Butcher Likes Dresden Files TV Movie
Jim Butcher author of the Harry Dresden series of fantasy novels has given his approval to the Sci Fi Channel’s tv movie adaptation, The Dresden Files. At least according to SciFi Wire. Butcher is quoted as saying that:
“I saw the clips [of the movie] and thought my jaw was going to fall off my skull. I’m very pleased with how well [screenwriters] Robert [Hewitt Wolfe] and Hans [Beimler] get the whole wizard detective concept, and I liked the movie script very much.”
The Dresden Files stars actor Paul Blackthorne in the role of Harry Dresden a Chicago based wizard and detective. The tv movie is based on Jim Butcher’s series of novels also about the only wizard listed in the Chicago yellow pages.
The movie is executive produced by Nicolas Cage amongst others and is intended as a pilot for a potential series. The Dresden Files will air on Sci Fi during summer 2006. I have my fingers crossed on this one as the books are very entertaining and seem almost designed for tv.
