Joss Whedon To Direct Wonder Woman

Its now being reported on several sites that Joss Whedon (best known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is on the verge of signing to write and direct a Wonder Woman feature film. Rumors of this have been floating around for a little while, but are now surfacing on more mainstream sites like TV Guide Online.
Whedon is currently working on the film Serenity which is based on his short lived tv series Firefly and has previously written a number of film scripts including Alien Resurrection.
In a convenient co-incidence there are rumors that both Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter are contenders for the role of Wonder Woman. Call my cynical but I suspect that is as much to do with Whedon's supposed involvement as them actually being the top choices.

Neither Sarah or Charisma would be ideal for the part. This role needs a beauty, brains and royal warrior spirit. Both Sarah and Charisma are good for Whedon’s other project, but this requires someone else entirely. Whedon should be reading the comics to get a better grounding of who that person should be. Even better, he whould hire the comic writer and a Wonder Woman comic collector!

There’s every reason to think that Whedon has read the comics. He is after all currently writing an X-Men Comic book. So he does know a few things about comics.

Hey guys, new to this place, and just wanted to throw in my two cents. Crossing my fingers that Joss Whedon DOES in fact do the project. I believe he’ll honor all the aspects of Diana and might even pull it off. I wanted to give a suggestion as to who might play Diana, too. Monica Bellucci. Definitely not a year-one type story, but a more seasoned , deeper Diana definitely. But she would ROCK, and stateside shes relatively unknown except for scary, scary Passion of the Christ. Thank!

she is not only the only one who can fill Linda Carter’s
boots and wonder woman costume but has the talet too!

one of the fellowing /Wonder Women:
Catherine Zeta Jones or Catherine Bell of TV JAG fame.
Both would FIT the role best…
