K-9 To Appear In Doctor Who Season 2 Episode
Sci-Fi Heaven has posted a news item about the fact that K-9 will be appearing in an episode of the second season of the BBC’s new series of Doctor Who. That will mark the robot dog’s first appearance on the series in 24 years. K-9 was originally introduced part way through Tom Baker’s run as the Doctor and appeared between 1977 and 1981.
In an episode of the second season of Doctor Who, K-9 will join the new Doctor, David Tennant to investigate sinister events at a modern-day school. The episode will also feature Anthony Head, best known as Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Elisabeth Sladen who will reprise her role as Sarah Jane Smith from the original series of Doctor Who.
I have some mixed feelings on this one. As a kid I loved K-9 and thought he was the coolest thing. Then again I also automatically loved some really bad episodes of Doctor Who as well. On the other hand as a Doctor Who fan as I got older, I found a lot of the K-9 stuff rather campy. All that said, so far the new series has managed to successfully span the age gap and appeal to a family audience, so fingers crossed they can pull this off with K-9 too.
