King Kong Set Report
Over at Aint It Cool News they have a set report from the King Kong movie that Peter Jackson is directing. Now despite being a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, I haven’t really got particularly excited about King Kong.
Thats probably because the last Kong remake was such a dud and I just wasn’t sure that we needed another remake of the film. Well I’m still not 100% convinced, but I am building up a little bit of interest in the project. Perhaps the tipping point for me is the description in this report that Peter Jackson is making a $200 million Ray Harryhausen movie. I loved those movies as a kid, and still do.
The notion that Jackson is taking the special effects that were developed on the Lord of the Rings and apparently just going full blast with them. Which is exactly the sort of film that King Kong should be. It also helps that there’s a definite old school vibe despite the heavy use of special effects.
