Latest Star Wars TV Series News

Well it’s official now apparently. Despite Episode III being the “conclusion” of the Star Wars story, we can expect not one, but two new Star Wars TV series in 2007.

As previously reported there will be a new animated Star Wars series which will be set during the clone wars. Unlike the Clone Wars animated Star Wars series, this new one will be entirely computer animated. Pre-production is well under way for this new series with scripts being approved and animation tests being run.

The second Star Wars TV series is a live-action series which will be set between episodes III and IV. The plan is for the series to run for 100 episodes but so far there are no airdates (or even channels) announced for this series. Nor is Lucas giving away any details about exactly what the show will be about and who will star in it.

I really don’t have very high hopes for the live action series. Without the movies budget to give us jaw dropping special effects, I’m worried that all we’ll be left with is the sub-par storytelling of the prequel movies. The computer animated show seems a little more promising, but I’m still suspicious of all things Star Wars these days.

Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website eoghann.com..

You’re not the only one who anticipates the live action TV series with dread. It’s just one of those things which shouts out “DUMB IDEA! Who on earth thought this would ever be a wise move?”

That said, there have been some good movie to TV series. Stargate, for starters. And… erm… oh, I think that’s it. Nope, it’s no good, I just can’t hold out any hope for SW:TV.
