Latest Star Wars TV Series News
Producer Rick McCallum has given some additional details on the status of the Star Wars tv series projects. Lucasfilm currently have two Star Wars projects in the works for tv, a live action series and a new animated series. Both projects are still in the very early stages, right now and most of the work being done currently is conceptual.
Star Wars Animated Series
The new Star Wars animated series is at an extremely early point in its development. Some work is being done at Skywalker Ranch on conceptual art and animation. Lucasfilm is also looking to get 13 scripts written before they really start heavy development on the series. They estimate that this will happen around the end of March 2006.
Beyond that, very few details are really known about the animated Star Wars series.
Star Wars Live Action Series
The Star Wars live action series isn’t much further along. Lucasfilm plans to produce the series out of Sydney Australia and says that the series will be shot entirely in HD (which is bound to be a popular decision). They are currently interviewing writers for the project and George Lucas plans to write several of the episodes himself.
The live action series (which doesn’t even seem to have a project name yet) is planned to run for aroun 100 hours of television (or approximately 5 years) and will be set between Episode III and Episode IV. Don’t expect to see this Star Wars series until 2007 at the earliest. While there have previously been reports about what the storyline of the series would be, now it seems that nothing has really been decided.
Lucas is apparently keen to follow one of the more popular, but less highlighted characters from the Star Wars movies but exactly who, no one is saying.
