Martha Wells Biography

Born in Fort Worth Texas in 1964, Martha Wells graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in anthropology (a detail which probably explains the complex societies in her novels). Her first published book, The Element of Fire in 1993 was runner-up for the 1994 Crawford Award and a finalist for the 1993 Compton Crook/Stephen Tall Award.

Wells second novel was City of Bones in 1995 and her third The Death of the Necromancer in 1998 was a Nebula Award Nominee. She has since written four more fantasy books with the most recent Gate of Gods to be released later in 2005.

Martha Wells lives in College Station Texas with her husband whom she claims as one of her three favorite things, alongside her cats and tapes of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website eoghann.com..
