Providing the Information That Sci-Fi Fans Need

Marvel 1602 by Neil Gaiman

SFSignal has posted a review of Marvel 1602. This is a title I haven’t read, but have kept several eyes on for a couple of reasons. For one, its an “alternate reality” tale and those can be fun if done well. For another it was written by Neil Gaiman.

Prior to this all Gaiman’s big work had been over at DC comics or completely outside the mainstream. I can’t have been the only one who wondered what Gaiman could do with the Marvel characters. Marvel 1602 is the answer.

The main reason I haven’t got it yes is that I’m trying to control my budget a little and graphic-novels eat up a lot of money. Still, after reading this review I’m even more tempted.

While there have been rumors of a sequel, there doesn’t appear to be anything concrete in place and its not clear if Gaiman would be interested anyway. My understanding being that his main interest in working for Marvel was to help fund his ongoing battle to clear up the Miracleman copyright issues (an epic saga all in itself).
