Marvel Announces 2007 Film Lineup
As part of their 2006 2nd Quarter earnings report, Marvel Entertainment have give a list of the movies featuring Marvel Comics characters that they will have in theaters in 2007:
Ghost Rider - February 16th 2007
Spider-Man 3 - May 4th 2007
Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer - June 15th 2007
Looks like it’s going to be a busy year for Marvel. Obviously Spider-Man 3 is the real blockbuster of that batch, but the first Fantastic Four movie did decent box office and depending on its quality Ghost Rider could find a good audience too.
In addition to those three Marvel has a whole raft of projects under development.
Ant-Man - Projected for 2008 release
Captain America - Projected for 2008 release
Iron Man - May 2nd 2008 release
The Incredible Hulk
Nick Fury
Thor
All of the above have at least a writer and in some cases a director already attached to the project. There are also several projects which are further away from completion and those include:
The Avengers
Black Panther
Cloak & Dagger
Doctor Strange
Hawkeye
Power Pack
Shang-Chi
As you can see from this list, Marvel are not restricting themselves to just their mainstream characters. While Iron Man and the Avengers are surely due a movie, is anyone really desperately waiting on Cloak & Dagger? I can sort of see Power-Pack since there have been a raft of kids movies featuring superheroes recently I guess.

Are you kidding? Out of that entire list, the one I *most* want to see would be Cloak & Dagger, followed by Doctor Strange.
Why in the world are they bothering with a Thor project? That’s ridiculous.

I think you’re the exception. I’m pretty sure there are far more people waiting on a movie featuring Thor, one of Marvel’s longest established characters than there are people wanting to see Cloak and Dagger, a pair of characters who have been unable to sustain a comic book series and who were retconned into being mutants in a desperate effort to make them more popular.
Thor’s recent return to the Marvel Universe has proved to be very popular.

I think that the marvel movie world might do slightly better if there were just a few more crossovers than usual. a few cameos from other actors wouldnt hurt matters any. A build up to the greatest Marvel story ever told so far would be the marvel universe VS. “The Marvel Secret Wars” story i read when i was a kid was probably the greatest story ive ever read..or you can suprise marvel fans by adapting the Marvel Zombies story any thing recent or old will work as long as its not just mind numbing nonstop action. “Underworld” intrigued me because it had a good story it made me want more of it and i just couldnt wait to see or hear about a sequel in the make. Narration is great in a movie because it puts you right along side the characters portrayed in the film.. “The lord of the Rings” was an excellent example of this style of filming with Cate Blanchette as the narrator throughout the trilogy. the cult classic the crow was another. i could continue but im not a movie critic. The last few Marvel films were great and i would love to see the Submariner on the big screen.

From Cloak and Dagger down to the end of the list is all
magnificent crap. Avengers will Rock. Thor will be per-
fect if done a la Braveheart meets Clash of the Titans.
Spend the money boys - don’t go cheap. We need to see
Asgard ($pecial Effects please!!!) Capt’n America can be
up dated nicely in Iraq (once again - big budget) Spend
more money and make the story of Galactus. How about this,
put some Sentinals in the next Xmen movie. Stop being so
cheap. Cheap gets you “Electra”. And that was crap.
