Marvel Digests For A Dollar

Marvel comics are continuing the marketing strategy set by Stan Lee right at the beginning of the business by keeping their classic stories continually available to the buying public and this time they only cost a dollar.

This July will see the publication of six black and white digest titles reprinting some of the early classic Marvel stories that help establish the reputation of the company.

The comics being reprinted are:
Amazing Fantasy issue 15
Amazing Spider-Man issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
X-Men issues 1, 2, 3
Hulk issues 1, 2, 3
Fantastic Four issues 1, 2, 3
Avengers issue 1, 2, 3

All of the digests will be 64 pages long and go on sale in early July.

These comics are really great value and it good to see that Marvel is still trying to encourage new fans in to the market by targeting them with a very competitively priced product.

The scope for these digests is limitless and Marvel could distribute them in their new joint venture with the 7- Eleven franchise chain to great effect as many modern fans started off buying comics from their local shops spinner racks. That particular entry route into comics has been noticeably absent for too many years, in my opinion.

I have been a science fiction, comic book and animation fan for a very long time. I honestly believe that comics are an extremely vital and exciting art form whose true worth is only now beginning to be recognised in the mainstream media and this appreciation can only continue to grow in the future. I regularly write science fiction short stories and send them off to the magazines. So far their response has not exactly allowed me to give up my day job but I plan to keep plugging away at it..
