Marvel Plans New X-Men Cartoon
Marvel Entertainment plans to launch a new X-Men cartoon in 2007. Taking advantage of the continuing popularity of the X-Men movie series (with a third X-Men movie currently in production) they have signed a deal with Indian animation company First Serve Toonz for a new animated X-Men series.
The new X-Men animated series will run for 26 episodes initially and will be centered on the character of Wolverine (like that’s a surprise). This is the third X-Men based animated series. Neither of the previous two lasted very long so we’ll see if this has any more success.
While Marvel has done much better than their competitor DC Comics in the movie market, they have been unable to even come close to the success DC has had in the animated market first with Batman, then Superman and The Justice League.
This latest announcement from Marvel follows on from last year’s announcement that they would partner with French animation company Antefilms Prods for a Fantastic Four animated series. Marvel will oversee the domestic distribution of the new X-Men animated series while FST will handle international distribution and DVD sales.

I loved the X-men animated series,
the passion and emotion the voice actors added.
The power surge illusttated by the brilliant colors and poses by characters,
I enjoyed all five years of it all.
I watched obssesively and I do hope this new cartoon will be a success.
I think it should be centered on everyone not only wolverine. When does Beast ever get his own air time?
Love my X- babies

I was a huge fan of the original series and have every episode of the show
recorded. The cast incorporated all our favorite characters, and for those
Colossus and Nightcrawler fanatics they’re were plenty of cameos from the massive
X-Roster.The X-Men is a story about a team, perhaps the greatest, most fantastic
team in Comics. To center the X-Men show or movies around one character
(as they’re trying to do with Wolvie, obviously). Wolverine is a fantastic character but I hope they don’t honestly think that he is the only reason the X-Men franchise is a success.
Granted that all three movies center around him, and all three movies were
blockbuster hits, fans of the X-Men are fans of the X-Men not just Wolvie himself.
