Mercedes Lackey and Steve Libbey Announce The Secret World Chronicle
Fantasy and sci-fi author Mercedes Lackey has teamed with newcomer Steve Libbey to produce The Secret World Chronicle, a braided novel podcast series with a superhero theme. A total of 8 books are planned with contributions from both established and up-and-coming writers. The first broadcast in the series will be released on September 1st, 2006.
The Secret World Chronicle will present an ensemble cast of superhuman characters who are trying to stop worldwide attacks from a myserious and technologically advanced Nazi secret society.
The podcast format was chosen, partly because of the huge growth in podcasting in the last couple of years and also because the format mirrors the old adventure serials of the early twentieth century which The Secret World Chronicle stories resemble themselves.
Taking full advantage of the web medium, there will be art contributions by artists such as Larry Dixon, Nick Robalik and Jana Duca on the site. All the stories will be read by professional actors and the complete set of mp3s will be archived on the Secret World website for convenient downloading.
