MirrorMask Release Date
MirrorMask, the Dave McKean film based on a Neil Gaiman script will hit selected theaters on September 30th. I’ve posted a little bit about this film previously but I was recently contacted by one of the people working on marketing for the film who gave me a little more information about it and I thought I’d pass the info on.

The story of MirrorMask is that of Helena (played by Stephanie Leonidas) a fifteen year old girl who works for a family circus. In a twist, she wishes she could run away from that circus to a regular life. During the film Helena finds herself on a jounrey into the Dark Lands, a fantastic landscape which is filled with giants, monkeybirds and dangerous sphinxes. As she tries to get home, Helena learns about the MirrorMask, an object of enormous power which is her only hope for escaping the Dark Lands.
With a script from Neil Gaiman and direction by talented artist Dave Mckean, you can be sure of two things. This will not be a cookie cutter children’s fantasy film and it will look unique. Sure enough MirrorMask combines CGI and live action in a breathtaking way thats like nothing you’ve seen before on film.
If you’re not from the UK you probably won’t recognize the names of any of the actors in MirrorMask, but they’ve all had active careers (including Stephanie Leonidas) and Gina Mckee (who plays Joanne) in particular is a very highly regarded actress in the UK.
I’m currently talking to MirrorMask’s marketing people about the possibility holding a small giveaway with some movie collectables. Assuming they like the idea I’ll post more details soon.
