Moonlight Fans Donating Blood To Save Show

I’m always in two minds about fan campaigns to save shows. On the one hand I admire the fans dedication to their show. But on the other it frequently strikes me as a lot of wasted effort since generally even if the shows do end up renewed, they don’t last more than one season.

However this particular campaign by fans of the CBS show Moonlight won’t be a waste of time no matter how things turn out.

The online campaign based at the YouChoose.com website is setting up blood drives with supporters of the show donating a pint of blood. Contrary to some reports I’ve seen, so far only a small number of people have actually pledged to give blood (280 at time of posting, with another 32 pledging money to the Red Cross). The majority (almost 4000 at posting) have simply pledged to “show their support for the show”.

But I like this idea, regardless of whether Moonlight gets a second season, the enthusiasm and drive of these fans will have done some real good. It certainly beats peanuts.
