Providing the Information That Sci-Fi Fans Need

Musical Directing Chairs

The director of the Rush Hour movie trilogy has been picked to step into the breech left by the departure of Matthew Vaughn and is going to helm the forthcoming X-Men 3 project.

Self confessed comic book fan Brett Ratner, who was on the original short list to direct the first X-Men film but subsequently lost out to Bryan Singer, was the person who fitted the requirements of both Marvel Entertainment and the Fox Studio. In other words he was available to start almost immediately.

This is actually a bit ironic considering that for the last 18 months Ratners name has been linked to the “Superman Returns” movie. He completed enough preparatory work there to enable that films producers to entice Singer away from his X-Men commitment. This in turn has now left a space for Ratner to fill.

The schedule still calls for X-Men 3 to begin shooting on August 2nd so that the film can meet its listed opening date on the 2006 Memorial Day weekend.

I have been a science fiction, comic book and animation fan for a very long time. I honestly believe that comics are an extremely vital and exciting art form whose true worth is only now beginning to be recognised in the mainstream media and this appreciation can only continue to grow in the future. I regularly write science fiction short stories and send them off to the magazines. So far their response has not exactly allowed me to give up my day job but I plan to keep plugging away at it..
