Never Mind The Dark Knight, What About Batman 3?
Image via WikipediaSo the sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight hasn’t actually hit theaters yet, but already people are turning their attention to a third batman movie and Filmstalker had a few rumors to share.
There is talk apparently that the third Batman film may be based on the graphic novels The Long Halloween and Dark Victory. It’s worth keeping in mind that so far the movies have based themselves only very loosely off of the comic books.
It’s likely that the Joker won’t appear in the next movie (for obvious reasons) and the main villain might be Two-Face. There’s even some speculation that Robin might appear.
I’m not sure how well Robin will fit into this very dark and gritty version of Batman. I’m also not sold on The Long Halloween and Dark Victory as the best source material. Two-Face is another story entirely.
So my question to you is, what Batman comics would make a good inspiration for another Batman film?

Why not jump forward into the future and do Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns?

Hey Tee, thanks for stopping by.
I love The Dark Knight Returns and stylistically it would probably work really well as a movie.

I thoroughly loved The Long Halloween and Dark Victory. Jeph Loeb’s writing is superb and the subject matter is nice and ‘real’(that is, no aliens, etc.). Actually, it might be interesting to have crime fiction writers suggest ideas. One obvious question going into TDK is if Two-Face actually lives through it. If he does (and based on what Eckhart has said about 2F), having a longer film that focuses on Harvey and Bruce would be fun. That’s the thing about Batman Begins, the Spider-man movies, and Iron Man. They are about the guy behind the mask, not the hero. Superman Returns didn’t work for me b/c it was a Superman movie, not a Clark Kent movie. Make sense?
