New Dragonlance Trilogy From Hickman and Weis

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, best known for their Dragonlance novels are set to write a brand new fantasy trilogy set in the world of Dragonlance. The new trilogy titled The Dark Chronicles will be released in hardcover by Wizards of the Coast.

This is the first collaboration between Hickman and Weis since the 2002 release of Dragons of a Vanished Moon which was the final book in the War of Souls trilogy. The Dark Chronicles however will revisit the time period of the original Dragonlance Chronicles books. Dark Chronicles will feature some of the more popular heroes and villains from that era.

According to Hickman Dark Chronicles “tells the tales that took place between the chapters of the original Dragonlance Chronicles.”

Weis noted that “Many of the characters whom fans have come to know intimately over the last twenty years will again come to life in the new series. You can expect to see all the original Heroes of the Lance—especially Flint, Tanis, Kitiara, Lord Soth, Tasslehoff, and, of course, the brothers Caramon and Raistlin Majere.”

Weis and Hickman will also write a new Dragonlance novella featuring several characters from their new trilogy. That novella will be published in Here Be Dragons which will be release in June 2006. Here Be Dragons will also include stories from other fantasy universes by R.A Salvatore, Keith Baker and Scott McGough.

The first book in the Dark Chronicles is set for release in Summer 2006.
