New Transformers Movie Set Footage
Access Hollywood recently did a short publicity piece on Michael Bay’s new Transformers live action movie and that set footage is now available online from Michael Bay’s own site ShootForTheEdit. Now don’t get too excited because we don’t get to see a lot and obviously this is on set footage with no pre-production etc.
The segment featured a short interview with Megan Fox about what Transformers were and footage of Shia LeBeouf being attacked by something large and mechanical (one of the Transformers?). All of this was accompanied by the usual gushing Access Hollywood commentary about how Michael Bay was the perfect match for this project. They aren’t known for their unbiased in-depth reporting on that show.
What makes the segment interesting (to me at least) is a very brief glimpse at the end of the pre-visualization of how a Transformer will look. Thats just the basic 3D form and coloring without most of the details and with none of the textures. From what little I could make out, it seems that they will be sticking with the core Transformers design, which was one of my worries.
Transformers has the potential to be an awesome film if they don’t hamstring by aiming at the children’s audience that the cartoon was for. Computer graphics are at such a level of quality now that the Transformers could look really stunning if done well.
