No Nightcrawler In X-Men 3?
Turbulance continues to surround the production of X-Men 3 it seems. The latet news to break was that actor Alan Cumming will not be playing Nightcrawler in X-Men 3. According to a message on his official site 20th Century Fox chose not to pick up the option for him to play the character.
Cumming played Nightcrawler in X2 and was under contract for X3. Filming is set to begin on X-Men 3 in August under the direction of Brett Ratner and Fox are aiming for a Memorial Day 2006 release.
Cumming joined the franchise in “X2″ playing the blue skinned tattooed mutant who could teleport. He was under contract for “X3″ although it was an experience he is probably happy to get out of after onthe record complaints about the arduous make-up process and on-set feuding with “X2″ helmer Bryan Singer.
The leaked drafts of X-Men 3 apparently did feature the character of Nightcrawler in a small role. This raises the question, will there be a new Nightcrawler? Or has the script been significantly re-written again?

Late breaking news Re: Night Crawler! I heard a rumor that he has been re-cast for X-3. He will appear in only
a few scenes but he will be played by Kirk Caouette who was Allans stunt double on X-2. According
to insiders Kirk did almost the entire White House scene in X-2. He was the real Nightcrawler who did all the ass kicking! I hope they give him lots of action. Ye haaa, Nightcrawler lives!!
