Orson Scott Card Talks About Iron Man

Orson Scott Card spoke to Sci Fi Wire about his work on Marvel Comics Iron Man. He is writing two five issue mini-series of Ultimate Iron Man ( a modern reworking of the original Iron Man) of which the first issue is available now.

In the interview Scott Card indicates that he will be taking a Smallville style approach to Iron Man, focusing on Tony Stark as the real identity with Iron Man as a role he puts on.

Interestingly Card had not not even heard of Iron Man before Marvel Comics contacted him about the possibility of writing the mini-series. Card, who has written for several forms of media including plays, and video scripts as well as the novels he is best known for had no concerns about writing for the comics medium.

He remains open to the possibility of writing more but says that is largely in the hands of the readers, noting that if the first mini-series does reasonably well he expects that they will do the second and then just go from there.

Eoghann Irving is amongst other things the creator and Editor of Solar Flare. He has a life long interest in all forms of science fiction and fantasy and a pressing need to share this interest with anyone who will listen. Find out more at his personal website eoghann.com..
