Peter Jackson To Produce HALO Movie
Aint It Cool News reports that Peter Jackson who is worshipped on several continents for his Lord of the Rings movie trilogy will produce the HALO movie along side his partner Fran Walsh. HALO is set for release some time in 2007 and already had writer Alex Garland (28 Days Later) attached to it.
No word yet who the director may be, or if it’s possible that Jackson will fill that role too. As you might expect with Jackson producing, the special effects will be done by the people at WETA which pretty much guarantees that the movie will looking stunning if nothing else. Jackson is quoted as saying:
“As a gaming fan, I’m excited to bring HALO’s premise, action and settings to the screen with all the specificity and reality today’s technology can provide,” said Jackson. “Fran and I are intrigued by the unique challenges this project offers, and we’re delighted to be working again with our friends at Universal, and with our new ones at Fox and Microsoft. I’m a huge fan of the game and look forward to helping it come alive on the cinema screen.”
The Peter Jackson connection has raised my interest in this movie a bit, but the track record for games turned into movies is so bad and I’m really not sure what HALO has to offer thats particularly unique anyway. So I remain to be convinced on this one.
