Prince Caspian To Use Different SFX Company?
It seems that The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian may use a different digital effects company to those used in the first film, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
The first Chronicles of Narnia had effects done by Imageworks, Rhythm and Hues and industry giant Industrial Light and Magic and the results were generally regarded as impressive. If reports are true though the producers of Prince Caspian are looking at two London based digital effects companies to do the majority of the movies effect sequences.
There are two likely reasons for this change, one is that many reports have filming for Prince Caspian being done in Europe rather than in New Zealand like The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Ireland has been heavily rumored to be competing with New Zealand for the primary filming location this time round. Obviously having the effects teams near the main production does have some advantages.
The second is that there are a number of new tax breaks from the British government to encourage the international movie making industry to use Britain again after they have recently been more inclined to go to places like th Czech Republic.
The two effects companies being looked at are: Moving Picture Company which has previous done work for the Harry Potter films, X-Men III and Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; and Framestore which also worked on the latest X-Men and Harry Potter movies.
